This Harden trade is as good as it gets for a superstar. Houston moved CP3, Westbrook and Harden Contracts in 2 years. Had no first round picks with no assets now they have 4 1st rounders and 4 pick swaps. Brought in Oladipo on a flyer deal to see what he has. If he’s apart of the future or sign n trade or let him walk.
Houston did a very good job taking their time but also did a good job of escorting Harden to Brooklyn in a timely manner. Wall, Oladipo,Woods,Cousins is solid. Does it win a championship? Most likely not, Playoff spot potentially. Houston hit the rebuild button while creating flexibility down the line an option it looked like they didn’t have a week ago let alone the past couple of years.
Indiana gotta see how Levert is going to fit in. Indiana offense just got rollin but they added a 20 point scorer under contract. Could be a trade Chip down the line, but I see Indiana rolling the ball out there and seeing how their team looks. Brogdon, Levert, Warren, Sabonis, Turner is a nice lineup with guys who can do different things offensively. Sabonis has another scorer around him who can create his own shot which allows him to go one on one. Sabonis has been a monster so far this season putting up 22pts, 12.5 boards and nearly 6 assist a night those numbers aren’t dipping anytime soon.
Cleveland just help moved money. I have no idea what they are doing hording centers. They need to move love and Drummond and build around Gaurlund, Sexton, Okoro, Allen. They should be trying to offload any big contracts to open up more playing time for their young guys. We’ll see if they are able to help facilitate another trade while taking in assets and picks, but they should start that process sooner rather than trying to hunt for a playoff spot.
Finally Brooklyn. I guess it’s fair to say Harden isn’t the biggest question mark here while Kyrie is still in limbo. It’s wild, But let’s say Kyrie is out, Harden and KD are still a crazy duo and the Nets are still a good team. Now adding harden into that point guard role less of an iso role where he can play basketball the right way we’ll see if he can adapt and play winning Basketball.
Now if Kyrie is back and he can get his head in straight that’s 3 guys that can get you 40 on any given night. Can’t leave anyone open, basically unguardable. Everything depends on their offense yeah defesne can be an issue but they gonna try to play like they at the Rucker and just try to outscore everyone. It opens up the floor for Harris who is already a knock down shooter. We can actually see Durant at center. I know people are gonna say what are they gonna do when Embiid,Joker, Davis comes to town they still have Jordan to throw in there at times but who’s going to be able to guard Durant at that 4 and 5 spot? Maybe 2% of guys can make it tough but not many. Dinwiddie injury surely hurts this team. I believe he would’ve been a buffer in the offense and team going forward.
However this is what a team competing for a championship does. Put all there chips in the middle of the table and go for it. Which makes sense, Kyrie(28) Harden and KD are in their 30s, if this is going to blow up might as well try to win at your earliest convenience. Brooklyn gave up their future being in win now mode it was thier only option. At least this trade makes sense for them unlike a past trade were they brought in aging stars past their prime to help win. Whatever reservations you have about Harden, he’s a former MVP, 8 time All Star, 7 Team All NBA and 3 time Scoring Champion at 31 years old.
Nonetheless it’s going to be entertaining to see these newly assembled teams take the floor in particular The Nets, Rockets and Pacers.
